Happy 6th birthday (early) Toby

Seeing as we are likely on the move, we are celebrating Toby's 6th birthday early. I was all for the woolie cake but the compromise was Toby decorated it.

A new chapter begins

Our new house, backing onto the bush in Lane Cove. The stars and skies and whole universe was conspiring with us on this one.

Easter hat parade

Jake's 6th birthday

This was my first real "fail" in my eyes in terms of birthday cakes. Jake wanted a movie theme and I googled some cake ideas. this is meant to be a popcorn bucket, with real popcorn on top (that bit worked). But my construction of the actual bucket was a bit rough and ready. Anyway, the kids of course don't care so long as they get heaps of sugar into their systems.

Then they can party with balloons.

Day 1 of school holidays - Anrcliffe Park

There are some really old trees down at our (soon not to be) local park. Their friends worked out that they could get boosted up into the fork of one of them. Only time all day they were quiet.
As well as the usual soccer, playground and running around fun, there were also about 100 white cockatoos hanging out in the park which were fun to run around and disturb. I couldn't get a decent photo of one though.

SOLD SOLD SOLD

Things have been a little quiet in blogspace for me lately. It's all because a couple of months ago, just after Easter, Cathy McComb came to visit Sydney. Keen to catch up, I found out she'd be at Tracy's house in Lane Cove and was going for a run Sunday morning so off I went.

For years we have joked with Tracy that if the house next door to her ever came on the market, she should let us know. That morning she mentioned that the old lady had recently died and the house would indeed be going on the market in the next little while.

Until this point in time, we had no inkling we'd be moving anywhere anytime in the next 5 years (before Jake starts high school, maybe we might move then depending on which high school he went to).

However Connah and I were talking about it and we both really would love to live backing onto the bush (like this Lane Cove house) so we thought, well why not put our house on the market and see what we got.

Thereafter followed 4 weekends of fixing up all the little bits and pieces we'd never got around to, like fixing front paths and mulching garden and putting in hooks that were missing. All took a surprisingly time really considering it seemed pretty finished to live in.

We put it on the market the same day the Lane Cove place went on market, both due for auction at the same time (so we moved ours forward by 45 minutes). Fortunately we didn't have to deal with that stress as a week later we sold. However now I find that the "sell before you buy, it's less stressful" may not be strictly true as we will shortly be homeless.....depending on what happens at the auctionin Lane Cove today.

Meanwhile, here is the ultimate before and after portfolio.
