Above is one of my favourite shots of the trip. We'd arrived at the end of the first session of school for the day again. Here is the boat we had below. Just us, our guide and driver. You could have fit about 40 people on it if you'd wanted to. It was enormous.
Look how young these kids are. Much more independent than the western equivalent.
Halfway along the village there was a hospital ship. Just like everything else, you take your boat to get to hospital - run by charity funds.
After a tough morning of sitting back in the boat, we were lucky enough to stop at one of the floating village houses for lunch. It was the highlight of the day, having lunch there, on a corner where you could see so far in both directions and we went for a wander through the house, out the back was land, a little street with houses either side at this time of year (later on it's all flooded) and loads more chickens. This house was particularly well off with a tv and 3 rooms.
Toby made himself right at home.
Then it was a relaxing ride back to the beginning. We saw a few other boats with westerners on but there weren't any hawkers coming up to the boat which apparently happens at other parts of the lake. A very relaxing morning.
At this point, we had a choice, back into town to lie around the pool and maybe check out the town (we'd only spent about an hour in Siem Reap centre of town, on the first day), OR go see another temple. We were all a bit weary and I was quite tempted to head back to the hotel instead of drive for another hour to see yet another temple. But luckily Mum was keen to see another temple. Why not?
